One of the oldest towns in Madrid with its two thousand years of history. During these centuries Celtiberians, Romans and Visigoths settled there. It still has remains, particularly of the Roman era. It has been a Town since the year 1559 when Felipe II gave it this title. The countryside around it is characterised by hills and ravines.Carabaña owes its fame to the cleansing Spring waters situated at the foot of the Cabeza Gorda Hill. The bottling factory which can still be seen was established in the XIX century, when the Chavarri electric power station was also built. You can also see remains of the Carabaña Spa. The factory is a youth hostel today.
